Summary
In October we introduced updates that improve reporting clarity, scheduling flexibility, and ease of use.
Highlights include the new Resource Schedule Report, calendar or working day lags, more intuitive resource levelling, milestone date control, and improved Microsoft Project and Primavera P6 imports.
Resource Schedule Report
You can now export a Resource Schedule Report directly to Excel, showing who’s working on what for any date range.
This feature eliminates double entry for companies that already create Excel-based resource reports. Data can be linked or copied directly from BuilderPlan, saving time and eliminating data entry errors.
Because GamePlan’s scheduling engine automatically levels resources, a person can never be double-booked. And if a person isn’t assigned to a project or a project doesn’t yet have a person assigned, it’s immediately visible in the report.
Together, these improvements greatly reduce costly resource allocation mistakes while providing clear visibility across every project.
Calendar or Working Day Lags
Lags, which are used on links to delay when a successor can start, can now be defined in either calendar days or working days.
Previously, all lags were measured in calendar days. A new plan setting lets you choose your preferred default. For new plans created after this feature was introduced, the default is working days.
Resource Levelling
Resource levelling can now be turned on or off with a simple toggle control.
This important feature ensures that schedules are realistic and achievable, with no double-booked resources.
When resource levelling is enabled, the Concurrent Task Limit field is shown, allowing you to model team size or the number of people available to work across multiple activities or projects.
This enhancement makes resource levelling easier to use while keeping its full power accessible to all users.
Set Dates for Milestones
Milestones with no predecessors can now have specific dates set directly in the Due Date field.
Previously, these milestones always appeared at the start of the schedule. Now you can place them anywhere, for example to define a Project Start milestone on a specific date.
This enhancement adds flexibility to how milestones can be used in GamePlan and ensures full compatibility with Microsoft Project imports.
Support for Negative Lag Values (Leads)
GamePlan now supports negative lag values, also known as leads, defined in working days when the lead is less than the effort of the predecessor task.
This enhancement adds flexibility for users who prefer to define leads directly on finish-to-start links. Previously, similar results could only be achieved using a start-to-start dependency with a positive lag.
Improved Microsoft Project and Primavera P6 Import
Importing from Microsoft Project and Primavera P6 is now even more accurate and consistent with the original schedules.
Enhancements include:
Duration is now imported instead of work
Negative lag values are imported exactly as defined in Project or P6
Start dates on milestones are now honoured
These improvements ensure imported schedules in GamePlan match their originals more precisely, reducing manual cleanup and saving time.
Change Resource Icon Colors in Bulk
You can now change the icon color for multiple resources at once. Previously, colors had to be updated one resource at a time.
This enhancement makes it quick and efficient to color-code resources by team, department, or role, improving clarity across your project plans.
